Fred Durst threatens to start alternative Coachella for the “uninvited”
Limp Bizkit singer Fred Durst is considering starting an alternative to Coachella for those, like his band, who are ignored by the Californian festival.
While Limp Bizkit have played most major festivals over the globe, Coachella has constantly evaded them, and Durst has now, seemingly, given up hope that the call-up will ever arrive.
Durst made the admission on X in response to a post by Lil Wayne, who was equally frustrated at seeing another Coachella happen and watching it unfold from afar.
The rapper wrote, “It’s truly a humbling experience when events like Coachella & the Grammys come around & like clockwork,I’m uninvited & uninvolved. I appreciate my position or space I hold in ya heart & mind if so bc you’re the humbling experience that’s timeless & 4dat I thk u. Iaintshitwithoutu”.
In response, Durst shared with Lil Wayne, “Let’s start our own experience gathering and our own acknowledgment event to welcome all of the uninvited”.
The Limp Bizkit singer then revealed that he already has “a couple ideas i’ve been working on for quite some while now” and said he was to “happy to elaborate if ever interested”.
As it stands, Durst has not yet offered any further insight into his vision for an alternative to Coachella and who else he’d like to join Limp Bizkit and Lil Wayne on the bill.
This year, Coachella was headlined by Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G, as well as welcoming David Byrne, The Strokes, The XX, Iggy Pop, Wet Leg, Turnstile, PinkPantheress and more to the desert.
There were also special guests and surprises galore, including Olivia Rodrigo joining Addison Rae, Madonna joining Sabrina Carpenter, plus Billie Eilish appearing during Justin Bieber’s headline set.
While Limp Bizkit didn’t get an invite to California, their summer itinerary will see them headline Download Festival alongside Guns N’ Roses and Linkin Park, set in the equally desirable location of Donington Park.
They were also due to visit Estonia as part of their upcoming European run. However, the concert was cancelled after Durst’s past pro-Russia comments emerged.
