Former Turnstile guitarist accuses band of pretending to care about social issues
The former guitarist of the hardcore band Turnstile has posted several accusations against the band online, including the allegation that they don’t “care at all about ethics or social issues in general.”
Turnstile has recently joined a host of musical figres using their platform to condemn ICE, who have infiltrated Minneapolis in a move ordered by the Trump administration, which has seen tensions rise, with several citizens shot and two killed in the crossfire.
After Turnstile shared an Instagram Story with a sign that read “abolish ICE”, Ebert shared in the comment section of another repost: “Lmao, no one in Turnstile cares at all about ethics or social issues in general, they’re just pandering to their audience.”
He aslo alleged, “At turnstiles first free show they did they claimed all proceeds go to healthcare for the homeless, we raised 10000 dollars but I watched Brendan [Yates] steal 4000 dollars from that and claim he needed to ‘pay the merch bill’ which was false.”
Brady Ebert left Turnstile in 2022, after their drummer, Daniel Fang, allegedly filed a restraining order against the guitarist at the time of the split. Little else is known about the fallout.
He then went on to reference his former split from the band, writing, “Also, my friends filed a restraining order, and guess what, they had two lawyers with them, and I showed up to court by myself, and the judge DENIED the restraining order.”
In a comment littered with typos, he added, “Because there was no statute in the laws about what qualifies for a restraining order that they were able to meet the requirements of.”
Ebert finished, “In other words they had no reason to file it and it was all over text messages which they showed the judge and the judge agreed with me without me even having to testify so next time before you spread bullshit misinformation say that shit to my face.”
The band did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Far Out.
