What is the weather forecast for Glastonbury weekend?
Glastonbury Festival is back upon us, but with this also comes the dreaded worry – what’s the weather going to be like? As festival-goers frantically pack both their raincoats and their suncream, it’s difficult to know what to expect this year at Worthy Farm, but the forecast is giving us a clearer picture.
The hottest question – quite literally – on everybody’s lips is the current heatwave, which has seen parts of the country hitting in excess of 30 degrees. As much as that got the sun worshippers out in force, it wasn’t such great news for those heading to Glastonbury, who packed into endless streams of fields and tents over the course of a weekend, may have feared that the heat could prove too much.
Equally, they hardly want a rainstorm either. Previous wet Glastonburys have become notorious in history for their mudslides and complete washouts, and as such, in general, people pray for a happy medium over their weekend at Worthy Farm.
So, what exactly does this year have in store weather-wise? Thankfully, according to the Met Office, it looks set to be a pretty even picture of both sun and rain. Much like the line-up, there’s weather to suit every taste, so whether you’re headed to see Neil Young, Kneecap, or Patchwork – whoever they may be – the skies should be on your side.
What’s the weather going to be like over Glastonbury weekend?
As campers arrive on Wednesday 25th to set up their tents, this is unfortunately where they could be met with the worst of the weather. Predictions are currently that a band of rain is set to swirl in from the Atlantic, and in a worst-case scenario, bring thunderstorms with it.
However, the hope is that Worthy Farm will miss the worst of the rain, and thankfully, it’s a much drier picture from there on out. Thursday 26th will bring a mixture of light cloud and sun, but with no more rain set to hit, it’s clear as you head into the weekend and the music begins.
As the stages come to life first thing on Friday, 27th, it’s set to follow a similar weather pattern to the previous day. However, with temperatures set to hit as much as 25 degrees, it could get warm, so maybe pack a fan.
Indeed, that warning is applicable throughout the rest of the weekend, with both Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th also hitting between 24 and 25 degrees, respectively, with the same sunny and cloudy spells.
With the lowest temperatures on all the festival days sitting at around 16 degrees, Glasto-goers are also set for a run of pleasant evenings.
All in all – apart from the potential of thunderstorms on arrival – it’s about as good a Glastonbury forecast as you can get. That doesn’t mean to abandon the wellies, however, as ultimately you never know what could happen – just remember 2005.
