Foo Fighters announce new tour dates amid Josh Freese firing

Foo Fighters have shared new tour dates in Japan and Indonesia for later this year after previously being announced for the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore.

Last week, it was revealed that Foo Fighters would join the likes of Elton John, The Smashing Pumpkins, Alan Walker, Crowded House, Babymetal, The Lathums and Tom Grennan at the Grand Prix in Singapore in October. Foo Fighters will perform on October 4th, 2025, on the eve of the F1 race.

Now, they have revealed details of more dates in Asia during this time, which will begin in Jakarta, Indonesia, for a show at Carnaval Ancol on October 2nd.

The Dave Grohl-fronted group will then perform at the Saitama Super Arena on October 7th in Tokyo, Japan, before bringing their rock ‘n’ roll show to the Glion Arena Kobe in Osaka on October 10th.

The set of shows marks the first time Foo Fighters have performed live since last September. They previously cancelled a performance at Soundside Music Festival and all future commitments upon Grohl revealing he’d fathered a child outside of his marriage. However, Grohl has since returned to the stage with Nirvana at the FireAid benefit concert and SNL50.

It remains to be seen who will be on drumming duties for Foo Fighters when they play live later this year after Josh Freese revealed he was fired from the band. Freese previously joined in 2023 following the tragic death of Taylor Hawkins.

Freese shared on May 16th: “The Foo Fighters called me Monday night to let me know they’ve decided ‘to go in a different direction with their drummer.’ No reason was given.”

He added, “Regardless, I enjoyed the past two years with them, both on and off stage, and I support whatever they feel is best for the band. In my 40 years of drumming professionally, I’ve never been let go from a band, so while I’m not angry-just a bit shocked and disappointed. But as most of you know I’ve always worked freelance and bounced between bands so, I’m fine. Stay tuned for my “Top 10 possible reasons Josh got booted from the Foo Fighters” list.”

Foo Fighters are still yet to comment on Freese’s departure.
