Foo Fighters cancel festival appearance following Dave Grohl baby scandal

Foo Fighters have pulled out of their slot at Soundside Music Festival in Connecticut, which takes place this weekend. It comes shortly after Dave Grohl recently revealed he’d become a father outside of his marriage.

Soundside Music Festival will take place at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, kicking off this Saturday, September 28th. Noah Kahan will headline the first day, with Goo Goo Dolls and Fleet Foxes sitting below him on the lineup. Foo Fighters were set to headline the second day of the festival, which also features Norah Jones and Bleachers.

Foo Fighters have now taken to social media to announce the cancellation of their performance at Soundside this weekend. “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’ Soundside Music Festival,” they wrote, “Please check the festival website for more information.”

Soundside was the only live date Foo Fighters had in their calendar. The rock band did not give a reason for their decision to cancel the set, keeping their statement brief and turning comments off on the post.

However, the cancellation follows the news that founder and frontman Dave Grohl has had a baby with a partner other than his wife, Jordyn Blum.

The Foo Fighters singer took to Instagram on September 10th with a statement that read, “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage.”

“I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her,” he continued, “I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

While Foo Fighters haven’t revealed whether Grohl’s announcement is linked to the cancellation, the performance would have marked his first public appearance since sharing the news of his child earlier this month.

Who is replacing Foo Fighters at Soundside?

Following Foo Fighters’ decision to cancel their appearance at Soundside, the festival announced two replacement acts for ticket holders. Former the White Stripes member and soloist Jack White will now perform on the Sunday, following the release of his triumphant new album, No Name, earlier this year.

“If it was simply Jack White sounding like good old Jack White then that would make for a timely rocket to blast a noteworthy wreckage in today’s pixelated musical landscape,” Far Out wrote in a four-and-a-half star review, “but it’s Jack White in a signature vein that timelessly revitalises the medium of the blues with each stabbing chord—rendering it pretty damn close to the masterpiece the world needs right now.”

Furthermore, White isn’t the only artist that Soundside have recruited to replace Foo Fighters. Greta Van Fleet have also joined the lineup. They released their most recent record, Starcatcher, in the summer of last year.
