Fontaines DC’s Carlos O’Connell and Tom Coll have produced the new Film Noir album

Fontaines DC’s guitarist Carlos O’Connell and drummer Tom Coll have produced the forthcoming album from Parisian band Film Noir.

O’Connell shared the news via social media. The Irish musician explained how the project was a matter of the heart, writing, “In early 2020, I walked into a gig in a club in Paris and was introduced to a band called Film Noir.”

He went on, “I fell in love with the singer, I went on to make babies with her and to fall in love twice again with them.”

From there, O’Connell, Coll and the band, consisting of vocalist Joséphine de la Baume, vocalist and keyboardist Alexandre de la Baume, guitarist Martin Rocchia, bassist Victor Le Dauphin, and percussionist Guillaume Rottier, hit the studio to bring to life Film Noir’s mix of cinematic French and English vocals with raw garage-rock.

O’Connell shared of the forthcoming release, “Producing this record was one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had. Blessed to have so many. This album means the world to me, and I hope it’ll mean something to many more.”

Film Noir released their debut EP, Vertiges (Men of Glory), in 2019, which established their moody retro-glam sound. They followed up in 2020 with Tendrement, a six-track EP.

In 2022, they released Palpitant, their full-length debut, which featured fan-favourite singles ‘Bad Omens’ and ‘Prends La Pierre’.

Elsewhere, Fontaines DC are set to make their live return in Spain with three new shows this summer, ahead of their headline slots at Reading and Leeds Festival. They have not appeared live since last August, in support of their Romance release.

This summer, they will also play huge slots at Electric Picnic in Ireland, as well as festivals further afield such as Frequency, La Route du Rock and Shaky Knees.
