Ezra Miller to work with Lynne Ramsay on new movie following legal issues

Ezra Miller is set to star in a new movie being made by filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, two years after they were last seen on screen following a barrage of legal issues and allegations of harassment.

The actor was last seen appearing in The Flash in 2023, following which they took an extended hiatus from the industry after criminal charges of assault and grooming had surfaced the previous year. However, Miller made a surprise comeback to the Cannes Film Festival supporting Ramsay’s latest film, Die My Love.

At the time, Miller explained that Ramsay is “one of my closest friends in the world” and “one of the greatest living filmmakers,” having previously worked under her direction for the 2011 film We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Subsequently, Ramsay confirmed in May that Miller would be taking on the lead role in her next project, described as a vampire movie but with full details still yet to be revealed.

The actor clarified this by saying in an interview with Lo Speciale Giornale, published on June 19th: “I’m working with her again. That will likely be the first thing I do, is a film that her and I are writing together. I’ve been writing a lot because you can do that in solitude, which has been friendly to me.”

Then asked what their relationship is like with the film industry over the events of the past few years, Miller added that their approach was, “Tentative — I’d say on tentative grounds.”

This marked Miller’s first foray back into the spotlight in some years, after allegations came to light in 2022 of assault, abuse, and grooming children. They were also arrested multiple times for disorderly conduct, something seemingly confirmed by a video which surfaced of the actor choking a woman to the ground in a bar in Iceland in 2020.

Many of the charges have now been dropped, and Miller has apologised, saying they were in “a time of intense crisis,” and “suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment.”
