Evan Rachel Wood was turned down for ‘Practical Magic’ sequel
Hollywood actor Evan Rachel Wood has confirmed she won’t be reprising her role in the upcoming Practical Magic sequel.
Last year, it was confirmed that Warner Bros are in the process of making a sequel to the beloved 1998 movie starring Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, who are both set to return for the new movie.
Now, in a recent update, it was revealed that Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing would also be returning to the world of Practical Magic for the long-awaited movie. Moreover, Xolo Maridueña, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, and Solly McLeod were added to the cast.
As a result of the casting development, Wood has cleared up the situation regarding her involvement in the sequel.
Taking to Instagram, Wood revealed: “I am getting asked about this a lot, so l’ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the Practical Magic sequel.”
She continued: “I offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”
Wood played Kylie, the eldest daughter of Bullock’s character, Sally, in the original movie. It is unclear who will be portraying Kylie in Practical Magic 2.
Details regarding the plot have also remained firmly under wraps. However, it has been confirmed that Bird Box director Susanne Bier will be helming the movie. Practical Magic 2 is set for cinematic release on September 18th, 2026.
