Eugene Mirman “thankful beyond words to be here” following serious car crash in New Hampshire

Eugene Mirman, a voice actor in the hit animated series Bob’s Burgers, has issued a statement after being involved in a serious crash earlier this week.

The single-vehicle collision took place at a New Hampshire toll plaza at 11:55am on March 31st, with the New Hampshire State Police initially confirming the man, later confirmed to be Mirman, had “suffered serious injuries after their vehicle crashed into a toll plaza on the F.E. Everett Turnpike”.

After it was revealed to be Mirman, his representative described the incident as a “very scary accident”, before thanking “the bystanders, state police, first responders and hospital staff who saved him” on the actor’s behalf.

They also added, “At this time, we kindly ask for privacy for Eugene and his family as he focuses on recovering from his injuries.”

Now, Mirman has taken to Instagram on April 3rd to share an image of him, appearing to be in good spirits, from hospital.

He told his followers, “Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the well wishes, love and kind messages from friends and strangers. I am extraordinarily thankful to the heroic people that pulled me from the car and to the warm, kind and talented staff at the hospital that cared for me and got me on the mend!”

The voice actor earnestly continued, “I am thankful beyond words to be here and doing relatively alright, all things considered.”

Mirman then apologised for not responding to his friends who may have texted him in recent days, adding, “I don’t have my phone, so haven’t been online much. I do not recommend my method of decreasing screen-time. If you’re a friend who sent a kind, loving message, you should know that it was hard to not respond with, ‘I’d love to be on your podcast.'”

Mirman, who has voiced Gene Belcher on Bob’s Burgers for the last 15 years, ended his message by emotionally writing, “I love you all and please take care of yourselves, Eugene.”

In addition to Bob’s Burgers, Mirman, who was born in Moscow and moved to the United States as a four-year-old, is also a stand-up comedian, appearing on shows such as Russell Howard’s Good News, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Flight of the Conchords.
