Netflix release heartbreaking Eric Dane interview following his death
Netflix has shared a touching interview with Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria actor, Eric Dane, which was filmed with the intention of being shared with the world after his passing.
On February 20th, it was announced that Dane had passed away at the age of 53 following complications caused by ALS. The star began struggling with symptoms in 2024 and had to enter full-time care by the end of 2025.
His tragic passing was confirmed by his family in a statement that began: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.”
Now, Netflix has shared a conversation filmed last November, before his passing, with the intention of being shared with the world only after he had been taken from it.
Dane touches on many topics, such as his struggle with addiction and his complicated marriage to Rebecca Gayheart, of whom he shared, “I will never, by the time anybody sees this, have fallen in love with another woman as deeply as I fell in love with Rebecca.”
At the end of the hour-long conversation, Dane shared the most important things he has learned from his disease, offering important life lessons to his teenage daughters, Georgia and Billie.
His first life lesson was to “live in the present,” as he admitted: “For years, I have been wandering around mentally and lost in my head for long chunks of time, wallowing and worrying in self-pity, shame, and doubt.”
His second lesson was a recommendation to fall in love, “not necessarily with a person, although I do recommend that as well.” The star went on, “Fall in love with something. Find your passion, your joy.”
His third message for his daughters was a warning to choose their friends “wisely”. He followed up the advice with a fourth and final suggestion: “Fight with every ounce of your being, and with dignity.”
He went on, “When you face challenges, health or otherwise, fight. Never give up. Fight until your last breath. This disease is slowly taking my body, but it will never take my spirit.”
The only other person to take part in Netflix’s Famous Last Words series was zoologist Jane Goodall, whose pre-recorded interview was released after her tragic passing in October 2025.
