Emma D’Arcy joins Tom Cruise in Alejandro G Iñárritu’s new movie
Emma D’Arcy has joined the cast of Alejandro G Iñárritu’s new movie, starring opposite Tom Cruise.
D’Arcy confirmed their role in the film to Deadline on April 14th, saying, “I’m delighted to be working with such extraordinary and exacting artists as Alejandro and Tom. They are the masters of their craft, and witnessing them in combination has been a privilege.”
The actor comes off the back of their best-known role in the Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, which scooped them multiple Golden Globes.
The untitled movie is currently shooting at Pinewood Studios in the UK. Cruise is leading a cast that also includes D’Arcy, Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, and other actors.
Although the name of the film has not yet been announced, its previously released official synopsis revealed that it will tell the story of “the most powerful man in the world [who] embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”
In March, production was briefly postponed as Goodman sustained a hip injury while on the set, which he has since recovered from.
For the part of Oscar-winning director Iñárritu, the film marks a return to the creative team he previously worked with on the critically acclaimed 2014 movie Birdman, as Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone are co-writing the project.
Cruise previously said in February that he was having “the time of my life” working on the film. His status as Hollywood’s greatest action hero will continue with the premiere of Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning on May 14th at the Cannes Film Festival.
Iñárritu’s mysterious new movie is slated for release on October 2nd, 2026.
