Elton John set for hologram residency in Las Vegas, report claims

Elton John has reportedly signed a deal that will see a hologram version of ‘The Rocketman’ perform a Las Vegas residency.

Notably, John retired from touring in 2023 when his extensive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which began in 2018, finally reached its conclusion.

Since then, John has continued to release music; however, he has kept live performances limited and stayed true to his word about retiring from touring.

Now, The Sun has reported that John has penned a multi-million-pound deal which will see him perform as a hologram at the new Hard Rock hotel in Las Vegas, which is currently on schedule to open in late 2027.

It states that John will film his performance at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire later this year, including special guests Dua Lipa and Kiki Dee, which will then be transformed into an immersive experience.

John has yet to confirm whether he’s signed a deal with Hard Rock.

Elton has previously been critical of hologram tours, stating at a New York press conference in 2018 that he once told his eldest son Zachary, “When Daddy dies, promise me there won’t be a hologram going around the world doing concerts.”

The legendary singer then went on to describe it as “that’s the last thing I want”, before adding, “It’s so spooky. Who knows – they may go broke and then put me back on the fucking stage, but I think that’s a bit freaky.”

Since 2018, the technology has advanced by leaps and bounds, which has perhaps persuaded John to change his stance on the matter.

Additionally, Kiss, who are also now retired from touring, currently have a hologram show in the works, which is slated to arrive in 2028.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, it was reported that Pophouse Entertainment acquired Tina Turner‘s name, image, and likeness rights, as well as the majority share of his music catalogue rights, with a possible hologram show on the horizon.
