Eels share new single ‘Time’ and announce new album
Eels recently announced that they will release a new album, Eels Time! On June 7th. The lead single ‘Time’ is now available to stream.
Eels Time! will feature an all-new 12 tracks. They were put together by the band’s lead songwriter, Mark Oliver Everett, who collaborated with various artists, including The Chet, Koool G Murder, Sean Coleman and Tyson Ritter.
The album was made over multiple recording sessions, as the band went back and forth between Los Feliz, California and Dublin, Ireland, during its production. A lot of thought has gone into the record, and given it has been two years since their last album, fans are eagerly awaiting the release.
The new single was recorded the first time the band got together following the pandemic and is a humble look at life and meaning. It came about because, as the band said, “There was nothing but time then.” They manage to share the familiar feeling that connected everyone throughout the pandemic beautifully.
The band has released 16 studio albums since their 1998 debut, Beautiful Freak. Everett has also had an exciting career outside of music as, in 2008, he published the highly acclaimed book Things the Grandchildren Should Know. He also starred in the award-winning movie Parallel Worlds, Parallel Lives.
Eels Time! is the follow-up to the band’s 2022 album Extreme Witchcraft, their 15th outing in their long-running career. This was created in lockdown and the new album is what was made once restrictions were lifted.
While the new album won’t be available until June, you can listen to the brand-new single ‘Time’ below.
