Echo and the Bunnymen issue statement after cancelling Manchester show hours before concert

Echo and the Bunnymen have issued a statement after cancelling their performance in Manchester on March 11th.

The iconic group were due to take to the stage at the Albert Hall in Manchester, but at 6:00pm, they took to their social media channels to reveal that it would no longer be going ahead due to illness.

They initially shared the following message, “Tonight’s Echo and the Bunnymen show at Manchester’s Albert Hall has been postponed due to ill health. Fans are advised to keep hold of their ticket and await further information.”

Then, during the afternoon of March 12th, they shared another message apologising to fans for letting them down at such short notice.

“Following the disappointment of having to cancel our recent Manchester show due to illness in the band, we wanted to say a sincere thank you to everyone for your understanding and support,” the message began.

Looking ahead to the rest of their tour, Echo and the Bunnymen were confident that no further shows would be affected by the illness in the band, adding, “We are currently planning to perform in Bristol tomorrow night and are really looking forward to getting back on stage and playing for our fans. The Bristol crowd has always been incredible, and we can’t wait to see you all.”

They concluded their post with gratitude, writing, “Thank you again for sticking with us – it truly means a lot.”

No specific details were revealed in regards to the illness affecting the band.

The Liverpudlian group are currently on their More Songs to Learn and Sing tour, which has further dates planned beyond Bristol in Brighton, London, Liverpool, Cambridge, Bournemouth, Birmingham, Nottingham, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Echo and the Bunnymen will then head to South America for shows in Brazil and Argentina in April, before embarking on a lengthy North American tour throughout May and June.
