Echo and The Bunnymen announce their first album in 12 years, ‘Apples For Isaac’

Echo and The Bunnymen have confirmed their plans to return to music for the first time in 12 years with their new album, Apples For Isaac.

The forthcoming 11-track album follows on from 2014’s Meteorites and their 2018 compilation album, The Stars, the Oceans & the Moon.

The group, consisting of Ian McCulloch, Will Sergeant, Ste Brannan, Simon Finley, Mike Smith, and Peter Riley, has announced that the album will be released via BMG on September 18th.

Beyond their usual line-up, the band has revealed that ten of the 11 tracks will also feature the late Blondie drummer, Clem Burke.

In their words, “The mighty, legendary Clem Burke – longtime friend of Mac – was integral to the making of the album, and heartbreakingly passed away during its completion… love you Clem X.”

To celebrate the announcement, they have shared the first single, doubling as the album’s third track, titled ‘Brussels Is Haunted’, which soars over the city and takes stock of its many inhabitants.

Apples For Isaac was produced by McCulloch and mixed by him alongside Alan Moulder, and Andrea Wright. Meanwhile, ‘Brussels Is Haunted’ was mixed by Mike Cave.

In the lead-up to the album’s release, the band will play a handful of shows across the UK and Europe, which will include two shows at London Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre on September 22nd and 23rd.

This is welcome news for fans of the historic band, as last month they were forced to cancel a North American show due to McCulloch’s involvement in a road traffic accident.
