Donald Trump mounts pressure on ABC to fire “seriously unfunny” Jimmy Kimmel: “It better be soon”

Donald Trump has called for Jimmy Kimmel to be fired once again after Kimmel continued his tirade, and Disney has remained silent in light of the President’s previous request.

On April 27th, the president called for ABC to fire Kimmel from his late-night gig, after Kimmel called Melania Trump an “expectant widow” on his show before an alleged shooter attempted to attack the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

Trump shared a statement online which deemed the joke as “really shocking”, and a “despicable call to violence”; he then said the comedian “should be immediately fired by Disney and ABC.”

Both organisations have remained silent despite the message from the top.

Since then, Kimmel has had ample chance to respond to Trump’s agitation, calling out hypocrisy in his wider response: “Only Donald Trump would demand I be fired for making a joke about his old age and then a day later go out and make a joke about his own old age.”

Unimpressed with Kimmel’s continued platform, the president took to Truth Social on April 30th, and again shared his frustration that Kimmel’s show is still on air, beginning his curt post, “When is ABC Fake News Network firing seriously unfunny Jimmy Kimmel, who incompetently presides over one of the Lowest Rated shows on Television?”

He concluded threateningly, “People are angry. It better be soon!!! President DJT.”

Kimmel’s latest monologue stayed true to his tirade against Trump; the comedian called out another recent post on Truth Social, which depicted the president holding a gun and threatening Iran. Kimmel joked, “He’s cosplaying as fat John Wick […] He looks like Rambo and Dumbo at the same time.”

Though ABC and Disney have ignored Kimmel, the Federal Communications Commission has taken aggressive action by demanding an early review of ABC’s broadcast licenses. However, it remains to be seen whether any action will be taken, and the Republican senator Ted Cruz has even warned them against doing so.
