Donald Trump issues warning to Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon amid Stephen Colbert’s firing from CBS

President Donald Trump has denied that he has anything to do with Stephen Colbert’s firing from CBS, but has stated ominously that Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel will be the next to lose their shows.

Earlier in July, Colbert announced that his long-running chat show would be leaving the air in May 2026, in what the network CBS called “purely a financial decision.” However, Colbert recently publicly criticised his network’s settlement with Trump over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, which has led to much public speculation about the real reason for the show’s cancellation.

Trump approved of the cancellation, writing on his Truth Social platform: “I absolutely love that Colbert got fired. His talent was even less than his ratings.” However, in response to these claims, Colbert hit back in his latest monologue by saying, “Now for the next ten months, the gloves are off.” He added, “Go fuck yourself.”

Following the news, a host of fellow comics rallied around Colbert. Kimmel took to Instagram to share his love for the host, who has since deemed the cancellation a “big, fat bribe.” David Letterman, who originally hosted the show, deemed CBS “gutless.”

Trump decided to address the controversy in a new Truth Social post. He began, “Everybody is saying that I was solely responsible for the firing of Stephen Colbert from CBS, Late Night. That is not true! The reason he was fired was a pure lack of TALENT, and the fact that this deficiency was costing CBS $50 Million Dollars a year in losses — And it was only going to get WORSE!”

He then moved on to threaten late-shows Jimmy Kimmy Live! and The Tonight Show: “Next up will be an even less talented Jimmy Kimmel and then a weak and very insecure Jimmy Fallon. The only real question is, who will go first?”

The President, who started out as a media mogul, concluded with words of wisdom that honed in on his threat. He wrote, “Show Biz and Television is a very simple business. If you get Ratings, you can say or do anything. If you don’t, you always become a victim. Colbert became a victim to himself, the other two will follow.”

Kimmel’s contract expires next year, while Fallon’s runs through 2028. Their future now seems less certain than before.

Trump is also currently embroiled in another censorship saga, as he has lashed out at a recent South Park episode which mocked Trump’s attacks on Canada, the Epstein list, wokeness, his lawsuit against Paramount, and the cancellation of The Late Show.
