Dolly Parton issues new health update from set of new music video: “Do I look sick to you?”

Beloved singer-songwriter Dolly Parton has issued a statement from the set of a new music video after posts from her younger sister caused panic amongst fans.

On October 7th, Dolly’s younger sister, Freida, took to Facebook to share her worry for her older sister. She wrote, “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”

After the post caused panic online, she was forced to release a follow-up statement that attempted to reassure fans that the singer was only “a little under the weather”.

It was then confirmed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal that the singer is in good health and is waiting for a procedure to address kidney stones. They also shared that the 79-year-old musician was also set to record a music video on October 8th.

It was from the set of that music video that Parton shared her own update on the matter. In the video, she confirmed the date, and explained her jazzy get-up: “Obviously, I’m here doing some commercials for the Grand Ole Opry, which is why I’m dressed kind of like a country-western girl.”

Parton changed her tone slightly and addressed the inadvertent panic caused in recent days. “I know lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am,” she said. “Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here.”

The ‘9 to 5’ singer continued, “Anyway, I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those of you that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate, and I appreciate your prayers because I’m a person of faith.”

Parton then referenced the tragic passing of her husband earlier this year. She shared, “As I mentioned back when my husband Carl was very sick, that was for a long time, and then when he passed, I didn’t take care of myself, so I let a lot of things go that I should have been taken care of.”

She had reiterated this sentiment when she postponed her Las Vegas residency earlier this year due to “health challenges.” In a statement at the time, the ‘Jolene’ singer said, “My doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

She recounted, “So anyway, when I got round to it, the doctor said, ‘We need to take care of this. We need to take care of that.’ Nothing major, but I did have to cancel some things so I could be closer to home, closer to Vanderbilt, you know, where I’m kind of having a few treatments here and there.”

Parton also addressed an AI photo she had seen, which depicts her fellow country star Reba McEntire at her deathbed. “We both looked like we need to be buried,” she laughed merrily.
