Ahead of their headline performance at Reading and Leeds, Disclosure have shared their sizzling new single, ‘In My Arms’.
The two Lawrence brothers have had plenty of time on their hands since releasing their first album in five years, Energy, last summer, and ‘In My Arms’ is an imposing reminder of their mastery production that just makes you want to dance dementedly until the morning.
If you thought the return of Disclosure with their new single was a cause of celebration, then prepare to enter a state of ecstasy as the brotherly duo are releasing a further four new songs this week.
‘Into My Arms’ sees Disclosure make a welcomed return to their clubbier roots, which is a path that they tried to evolve from on Energy. Still, this mini-project allows them to take an excursion down memory lane and unleash the kind of tracks that made them so adored. While their last album saw them break new sonic territory, something is comforting about hearing Disclosure revert back to euphoric anthems made for those debauched heady evenings.
“The spark that ignited the creation of this body of work came from a place of wanting to revitalise a very fractured and uncertain dance music scene and club culture that has changed so much all over the world for obvious reasons in the last 18 months,” Guy Lawrence noted in a statement.
He continued: “While piecing together initial ideas during the spring of 2021, hope began to glimmer on the horizon for producers and DJ’s that we may soon be able to gather together again, dancing and listening to music as one, participating in something larger than ourselves. So we asked each other… what would we want to hear in those moments?
“What does that first moment back in a club sound like? What does walking into Shangri-la, Glasto at 2am feel like again? What does a headline show at Reading look like after all the difficulties 2020 brought on our whole industry? With all these questions unanswered and with the possibility that any of these events may actually be allowed to take place, we set to work on creating something that might fit one of those magical moments some of us have been longing to participate in again.”
‘In My Arms’ is a track unapologetically designed for the live arena. In two weeks, when the Lawrence brothers headline Reading Festival, this arresting track will be a moment to remember if you are one of the lucky ones to be in attendance.
