It has been speculated that Billie Eilish will feature on the line-up of the 2022 edition of Glastonbury Festival.
The iconic festival, which has been held on Worthy Farm since 1970, has been forced to cancel for two consecutive years due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the festival is set to re-open for 2022 now that restrictions have been relaxed.
The rumours started to gather when fans noticed that her UK tour dates led up to the weekend of the Glastonbury. Fans of the singer, who released her widely successful album Happier Than Ever last month, are now waiting to see if she will be confirmed as the headliner of the festival’s legendary Pyramid Stage. Eilish will perform at London’s 02 Arena the following two nights, so she is sure to be in England at the time.
Meanwhile, having pulled out of this year’s Reading & Leeds Festival, Queens of The Stone Age are rumoured to be taking to Glastonbury festival’s Other Stage. If all goes ahead, the band will perform the same night Eilish headlines the Pyramid.
According to the eFestivals forum, the rumours are informed by “strong info from a top source, also with backing from a second source”. Moreover, an attendee on Glastonbury’s Worthy Pastures Campsite told sources that festival boss Michael Eavis “asked a group of us what we thought of Billie Eilish when he was doing his mingling.”
As well as Elish and Queens Of The Stone Age, expectant festival-goers suspect that Elton John may also make an appearance at Glastonbury 2022. The singer has left a suspicious gap in the last week of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
Likewise, fans are debating whether the festival will re-book some of the acts on its 2021 line-up, including Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney. It has been confirmed, however, that Crowded House will feature on the 2022 line-up next June. Aerosmith are also likely to return, having been booked for the cancelled 2020 festival.
