Demi Moore and Colman Domingo set to star in Roger Ross Williams’ alien themed romance

Oscar-nominees Demi Moore and Colman Domingo are set to star in Oscar-winner Roger Ross Williams’ new movie Strange Arrivals. This will be an alien abduction-themed romance based on a Toby Ball podcast.

The film will be adapted for the screen by Jane Anderson, the Emmy-winning playwright and screenwriter behind the likes of The Wife and Olive Kitteridge.

Strange Arrivals is inspired by the true story of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who, in 1961, became the first reported case of an alien abduction, as they journeyed back from their honeymoon in Niagara Falls.

Word of this strange experience catapulted them to fame and celebrity. Yet, underneath that notoriety, simmered the truth of what really happened that night, which would test even the most epic of romances.

In a statement on the project, Williams said, “As a director, to be able to work with actors at the top of their craft, is a dream. Demi and Colman coming together for the first time to bring Jane Anderson’s beautiful script that illuminates the human condition to life, will be magic. I am also thrilled to work alongside the remarkable team at See-Saw. They have an amazing track record of making artist-driven stories, and we couldn’t be in better hands.”

Domingo is having his moment. He was nominated for ‘Best Actor’ at the Oscars 2024 for his performance as the influential civil rights activist Bayard Rustin in the Netflix movie Rustin. In a forthcoming biopic about the late pop star, he has also been cast as Michael Jackson’s father, Joe.

He’ll also soon make his directorial debut with Scandalous! starring Sydney Sweeney and David Jonsson and is repped by WME, Liebman Entertainment, and Schreck Rose Dapello.

After a long and impressive career, Moore also has many up-coming projects. Her performance in body-horror The Substance was considered by many her comeback project. Far Out wrote of her role: “Moore gave a performance that was vulnerable, allowing her to stand face-to-face with themes she is all too familiar with.”
