Death of Oasis fan at Wembley Stadium ruled to be “tragic accident”

The death of Oasis fan Lee Claydon has been ruled to be a “tragic accident”.

Claydon tragically fell from an upper tier of Wembley Stadium at the end of the band’s concert at the London venue on August 2nd.

A pre-inquest review was heard at Barnet Coroner’s Court on November 19th. At the hearing, the Metropolitan Police’s Detective Sergeant James Raffin confirmed, “From a police point of view, this is no longer a criminal prosecution. We do not suspect any third party involvement.”

He continued, “This, from everything we have seen, was a tragic accident. From a police point of view, I would say our investigation is complete.”

Raffin also revealed that he had seen a toxicology report and there were “no concerns there” regarding the results.

While Claydon had consumed alcohol, Raffin said this was “expected” and “normal for any of the people attending”.

The Metropolitan Police have ruled out the possibility of suicide. A full inquest is set to be heard on February 26th, 2026.

In September, it was revealed at Barnet Coroner’s Court that Claydon died from multiple body injuries following a preliminary post-mortem examination.

Following his death, Clive Claydon, described his late son as “a hard-working family man” who “loved his kid”. He added, “He was a lovely bloke, loved to be with his family … He had everything going for him. I am so devastated.”

Meanwhile, Oasis also paid tribute to Claydon, writing on social media, “We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.”
