Coachella 2025: Deadmau5 apologises for drunken set

Deadmau5 has apologised for getting so drunk at Coachella that his performance was cut short, adding that he “doesn’t remember a thing”.

The Canadian DJ, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, was due to play a three-and-a-half-hour set on the Quasar Stage on April 18th under his alter ego Testpilot B2B with Zhu.

However, the performance was subsequently cut short after Zimmerman became increasingly drunk while on stage, drinking shots and making various slurred comments into the microphone.

The next day, on April 19th, the DJ posted a picture of a bottle of water to his Instagram, along with the caption: “I don’t remember a thing. But I don’t think I had a cig? So… that’s good I guess? Going back to bed. Wake me up around Thursday ish.”

Later, he also posted a photo of his cat, adding: “Man, even my cat is disappointed in me. Tho, it could be argued that she always has been.”

Zimmerman continued: “Sorry about last night. Lol. TO BE FAIR, I felt the first 3/4 was great! Huge shout out to Zhu for introducing me to whisky and carrying my dumb ass till the bitter end. Lemme quit smoking, do some fucken personal resetting here at home, find my spirit animal, work on some new music, and come back better.”

Elsewhere across the weekend of the festival, other notable moments included Ty Dolla $ign remotely duetting with his brother Big TC, who is in prison serving a sentence for murder.

Furthermore, headliner Travis Scott splashed out on a $12million set for his slot, but only managed to draw a relatively modest crowd for his performance on April 19th.
