Coachella 2025: Travis Scott draws modest crowd for headline set

During weekend two of Coachella, Travis Scott ended day two with a headline set on the Coachella Stage. While it was packed full of energy, the crowd size appeared modest.

Just like at weekend one of the festival, Scott closed the Saturday at the Californian festival for a special performance entitled, ‘Travis Scott Designs The Desert’. His stage design reportedly cost $12 million to create, and his show, at both weekends, was more of an immersive experience than a traditional festival performance.

Following complaints on social media regarding his first set on April 13th, Scott posted on X prior to taking to the stage a week later, “Re did the sound. Re did the set list. I’m ready coachelllaaaaaaa”.

The general consensus of his performance online was much more positive following his second set of Coachella, which also saw him bring out Don Toliver and Sheck Wes. One X account wrote, “Tonight had to be the BEST Travis Scott setlist of all time. Coachella’s crowd has no idea how much they won.”

Nevertheless, Scott, who started his set at 11:50pm local time, seemingly played his set to a field with vast spaces in the crowd, which is likely partially due to his late stage time. It appeared that the number of fans in attendance was significantly less than Green Day and Charli XCX, who preceded him on the Coachella Stage.

Scott was initially set to headline Coachella in 2022, but his appearance was pulled due to the fatal Astroworld Festival disaster. In his performance in the desert, the rapper acknowledged his previously cancelled set, stating, “I was supposed to headline this festival a couple years ago but for a lot of reasons I didn’t but I’m so glad that a couple of years later, I was able to stay down with me and my guys to be able to headline this stage at whatever the fuck time it is tonight.”

Scott also shared his love to all his fans who have been by his side since “day one”, before adding, “I love y’all so much, I will never forget this day in my life.”

Coachella is set to continue on April 20th with Post Malone and Megan Thee Stallion among those scheduled to perform.
