Coachella 2025: Charli XCX confirms death of Brat Summer and shares who she wants to take over

Charli XCX again drew one of the largest crowd sizes of the festival during weekend two of Coachella. The English star used her set to confirm the end of Brat Summer and recommended who she would like to pass the torch to.

Her triumphant set on the Coachella Stage saw Charli largely rely on material from her chart-topping and zeitgeist-capturing 2024 album, Brat, which sent the Californian crowd into a frenzy. She performed hits from the record such as ‘365’, ‘360’, ‘Girl, So Confusing’, ‘Guess’, ‘Von Dutch’, ‘Apple’ and more.

To close the set, Charli XCX rewound the years to go back to the beginning with a performance of her Icona Pop collaboration, ‘I Love It’, albeit a remixed version which is more aligned with her current sound.

During the performance of ‘I Love It,’ Charli’s giant screen behind her on stage listed a number of pop culture figures who should take over the reins for Brat Summer in 2025. The list consisted of artists with recently released projects or projects on the horizon.

Charli XCX shouted out Lorde, Addison Rae, PinkPantheress, Haim, Pulp, Aidan Zamari, Yung Lean, Ethel Cain, David Cronenberg, Kali Uchis, Perfume Genius, Sean Price Williams, Rosalia, and Ari Aster.

The ‘365’ singer also gave love to Kogonada, Caroline Polachek, Paul Thomas Anderson, Joachim Trier, These New Puritans, Hailey Benton Gates, Turnstile, A$AP Rocky, Darren Aronofsky, Blood Orange, Bon Iver and Celine Song.

Elsewhere, on April 19th, at Coachella, Green Day performed a storming headline show. During their show, singer Billie Joe Armstrong wore a Brat baseball cap to show appreciation to Charli XCX. Travis Scott also returned to the Coachella Stage for an emphatic set.

Coachella is set to conclude on April 20th following sets from Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Zedd, Kraftwerk, Beabadoobee, Jennie and Basement Jaxx, among others.
