Over 400 of David Lynch’s personal items to go to auction

After his passing on 16th January 2025, over 400 of David Lynch’s personal items are set to go to auction.

Julien’s Auctions and Turner Classic Movies have announced an upcoming auction, The David Lynch Collection, featuring many personal items belonging to the filmmaker. The collection will be available from June 18th in person at their Gardena auction house and online via Julien’s Auction’s website.

The long list of items will include many incredible finds. The esteemed filmmaker’s personalised director’s chair will be up for grabs, alongside his very own 35mm print of Eraserhead, and the original rugs from Twin Peaks.

The auction will also include Lynch’s home espresso machine, a pair of taxidermy deer heads, prop menus and scripts from Mulholland Drive, numerous vintage film and video cameras, and his personal collection of vinyls. In addition to his work in film, Lynch was also a musician. He has released several albums, including ‘Crazy Clown Time’ and ‘The Big Dream’, which mix electronica and Americana music.

Commenting on the event, Julien’s Managing Director of Entertainment Catherine Williamson said: “These historical and cherished pieces reflecting David Lynch’s singular artistic vision, as well as his passions and pursuits ranging from his director’s chair, espresso machine to his guitar, record collections and Twin Peaks style decor, come directly from the home of the visionary artist whose enigmatic films stirred our most imaginative and collective surreal dreams.”

It was confirmed by Los Angeles County Department of Public Health that the Mulholland Drive director passed away due to cardiac arrest resulting from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The report also states that dehydration was a significant contributing factor towards his death.

Far Out has previously written of Lynch’s unforgettable legacy, stating: “Lynch’s impact on cinema was mighty, bringing surrealist ideas further into the mainstream and bridging a gap between experimental cinema and Hollywood. His influence has rippled through cinema since the ‘70s, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a filmmaker who doesn’t believe Lynch to be anything less than a genius.”
