Dave Navarro issues public apology to Jane’s Addiction support acts
Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro has apologised to their support acts, Love and Rockets and Crawlers, after the band cancelled their tour.
The cancellation came after they played Boston on September 13th, the concert came to a premature end after 11 songs when frontman Perry Farrell attacked Navarro on stage during a performance of the track, ‘Ocean’s Size’. They initially cancelled one date before removing all future dates from their calendar on September 16th.
Thankfully, nobody was seriously harmed during the physical altercation. The crew rushed to the stage, and the situation was quelled relatively quickly. However, the well-being of Farrell is currently the priority for Jane’s Addiction, which is why they cancelled the 14 remaining dates of their North American tour.
They told social media followers: “To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
In addition to the tour affecting fans who had tickets, Navarro is also aware that Love and Rockets and Crawlers have now missed out on the opportunity to perform in front of many of their fans across the United States.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Navarro shared, “I would like to personally apologize to Love and Rockets (and) Crawlers and their crews for such a terrible outcome of what started off as an incredibly magical tour.”
Navarro continued: “Love & Rockets are heroes of mine and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to perform on the same stage as them for as long as I did. It has truly been an honor!”
As a result of Jane’s Addiction cancelling the rest of the dates on their North American tour, Crawlers were forced to take the difficult decision to pull the headline dates they had planned to play in the USA.
The English band explained on social media: “Because of this we have also had to cancel our intimate USA headlines as it’s sadly no longer viable for us to make these work without the support from the JA+LR tour.”
Crawlers then stated that their “heart goes out to every single” member of their fanbase in North America who wanted to see them perform “despite this being completely out of our hands”.
The group continued: “It breaks our hearts that we won’t be seeing you guys for these upcoming shows. To our fans new and old who joined us on this run of shows – we love you so much, thank you for such an amazing ride, and bringing the noise for us every night, we will be back better than ever, we promise.”

Perry Farrell’s apology to Jane’s Addiction
Navarro issued a statement on September 16th, which was co-signed by Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins, further detailing the band’s reasoning for the cancellation. The guitarist wrote, “Due to a continuing pattern of behaviour and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour.”
Furthermore, Navarro stated that “our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative.” He also stated on behalf of the band, “We hope that he will find the help he needs.”
A few hours later, Farrell held his hands up and accepted responsibility for his actions. He shared, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult, and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behaviour, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
As it stands, Jane’s Addiction have no future dates scheduled. However, on September 18th, they did quietly release the new single, ‘True Love’, which suggests that more music is on the way.
