D4vd was most-searched person on Google of 2025 amid death investigation
Singer D4vd has been named the most-searched person of 2025 by Google amid the ongoing death investigation into Celeste Rivas.
The 20-year-old musician is currently a person of interest in the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation into the death of teenager Rivas, whose body was found in his Tesla in September.
D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, subsequently cancelled all of his future shows after Rivas’ body was identified, and has yet to address the subject publicly.
In November, ABC News reported that Burke is considered a suspect in the ongoing investigation that is being conducted by police.
Amid the ongoing investigation and a surge in interest in D4vd, according to Google’s ‘Year In Search’ for 2025, D4vd was the most-searched person on the planet, with Kendrick Lamar in second place, and Jimmy Kimmel in third.
Tyler Robinson, who has been charged with murdering Charlie Kirk, is fourth on the list, ahead of Pope Leo XIV in fifth.
The top ten is rounded out by teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, NFL player Shedeur Sanders, Bianca Censori, New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, and humanitarian campaigner Greta Thunberg.
Search for D4vd remained low until September 7th, when it first spiked after it emerged a body had been found in a Tesla registered in his name. Interest in him peaked in the week of September 14th to September 20th, when Rivas was identified.
While search interest in D4vd has declined over the last two months, it still remains considerably higher than it was pre-September 7th.
In late November, officials confirmed that records relating to the death of Rivas have been barred from public release. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office made the move in order to prevent the investigation from being jeopardised.
The decision was criticised by Chief Medical Examiner Dr Odey Ukpo, who said in a statement, “The practice of security holds is virtually unheard of in other counties and has not been proven to improve outcomes in the legal system. We are dedicated to serving our community with full transparency; however, the law precludes us from doing so while the court order remains in this case.”
No arrests have been made in connection with Rivas’ death.
