Courtney Love clarifies Hole reunion rumours
Courtney Love has clarified the rumours that Hole could be getting back together, saying their plans are “not a reunion”.
The frontwoman sent fans into a frenzy earlier in the week when she posted a cryptic video on Instagram with the band’s bassist Melissa Auf der Maur, where they danced to their 1998 hit ‘Malibu’.
Love then suspiciously captioned the post with the question “So do we tell the kids about the tour?”, prompting speculation from fans that Hole could be gearing up for their first full reunion in some 24 years.
This idea was further fuelled by Auf der Maur leaving a comment on the post that said: “It starts with eternal love…”
Hole have not performed together fully since their break-up in 2002, but Love has reunited the band on a smaller scale with different members previously between 2009 and 2012.
Despite this, Love and Auf der Maur have remained as sonic partners over this time, reuniting in the studio in 2024 to perform on 070 Shake’s cover of Tim Buckley’s ‘Song to the Siren’.
As such, Love has now clarified her position by saying that her and the bassist’s plans are “not a reunion”, by adding a comment to her original Instagram post.
She told fans that the plans are “Not a reunion baby. Me and [Auf der Maur are] touring new songs.”
She also emphasised this in a separate comment left on a post by the outlet Spin, saying there would be “no Hole reunion” but that her and Auf der Maur would be “playing some shows, some new songs.”
Love nor Auf der Maur have yet made any further announcement on what these shows, or their new music, will involve, with no information provided on possible dates either.
