Corey Taylor is working on his debut movie score
Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor has revealed he’s working on his first-ever movie score. The singer has recently toured in support of his most recent solo album CMF2, following the end of Slipknot’s shows for 2023.
The year has been busy for Taylor, but he shows no signs of slowing down in 2024. In addition to working on the film score, the rock frontman is still touring his solo material, and Slipknot also has a smattering of dates in their calendar for 2024.
In a new interview with Tell Us Rock, Taylor opened up on his film score work, noting, “I’m going to the studio to start recording my first score for a movie that I’m involved with,”
However, the metal icon claimed he couldn’t give any further information about the movie nor the score he is working on.
“I can’t tell you which one it is. I’ve been sworn to secrecy, and I’m actually saying more than I could,” Taylor added. “It’s not a massive movie, but it’s a movie that I was involved with, that I was able to be in.
The Slipknot singer signed off on the matter by stating, “I’m really excited. It’s gonna be my first time scoring a movie. So I’m really excited, dude. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. And I’m really excited to get down to it.”
In other Slipknot news, Taylor recently dismissed suggestions that the band had found their new drummer after Jay Weinberg left the nine-piece outfit.
Taylor wrote on social media following Jeramie Kling’s teasing suggestions that he is the new Slipknot drummer, “To everyone wondering about our new drummer… It’s not him. Stop letting him troll you. He’s not even on the list.”
Following his dismissal, Weinberg said: “I sometimes wonder what it would be like to pay a visit to my wide-eyed, 10-year-old self — falling head over heels in love with a new and exciting sound and culture — and tell him all about the last 10 years. Even on the hardest days, I’d like to think he’d be stoked about the adventure that was in store for him.”
He continued: “I was heartbroken and blindsided to receive the phone call that I did on the morning of November 5th; the news of which, most of you learned shortly after. However, I’ve been overwhelmed by — and truly grateful for — the outpouring of love and support I’ve received from this incredible community I consider to be my creative and artistic home.”
