Coldplay reschedule two nights at Wembley due to tube strikes

Indie-pop titans Coldplay have been forced to reschedule two of their ten nights at Wembley Stadium, after planned action on the London underground now makes it near-impossible for most to travel to the show.

The band announced the unfortunate news on social media, writing, “We’re sorry to announce that, due to planned industrial action on the London Underground, we’ve been forced to reschedule our final two concerts of the current Wembley Stadium run.”

Despite best efforts, the band saw no other way out. They added, “Without a Tube service, it’s impossible to get 82,000 people to the concert and home again safely, and therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of 7th and 8th September.”

They narrowly missed being backed into a cancellation. They wrote, “To avoid cancelling the shows, our only option is to reschedule.”

Therefore, the show originally set for September 7th will move to Saturday, September 6th. Additionally, the show originally set for September 8th will now move to Friday night, namely September 12th.

They then talked logistics, writing, “Those who can now no longer attend will get a full refund, and should contact their point of purchase before September 2nd. Those who can make the new date need not do a thing, as their ticket has become automatically valid for the new show.”

The ‘Sparks’ singers reassured fans that their other shows at Wembley, namely those on August 30th, 31st, September 3rd and 4th, will still go ahead. The band signed off earnestly, “We’re very sorry for the inevitable disappointment, frustration and inconvenience that this situation causes.”

The London-based band has already played several shows at the iconic venue. As their Wembley residency began on August 22nd, the band played a cheeky portion of the Oasis classic, ‘Roll With It’, in a nod to the Britpop bands’ adjacent tour.
