Clint Eastwood and Sergio Leone classic movie, ‘A Fistful Of Dollars’, set for remake

The Sergio Leone and Clint Eastwood classic A Fistful of Dollars is set for a remake courtesy of Euro Gang Entertainment. The company was founded by Hollywood veterans Gianni Nunnari and Simon Horsman, who have worked on films such as 300 and Magazine Dreams, respectively. Also joining them on the project is the Italian producer Enzo Sisti.

A Fistful Of Dollars is a spaghetti western classic that epitomises the brilliance of the genre. Originally starring Eastwood in one of his most iconic roles, the story follows a wandering gunfighter with no name. In a town plagued by pride, vengeance and greed, he somehow manages to play two different families against one another.

The film, released in 1964, was pivotal in launching the genre of spaghetti western and Eastwood’s career. Its success led to the development of two sequels: For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The original movie was already a remake of a Japanese classic, Yojimbo, although this isn’t official, and the similarities actually led to the producer, Toho, filing a lawsuit.

Production details for the remake are yet to be revealed, which is normal considering the movie is still in its very early stages. Despite having Italian production on board, it’s safe to assume that the film will be in English, and any cast or crew details other than those mentioned above are yet to be confirmed.

An official remake of the movie has never previously been made, but it has been speculated about for some time. A few years ago, there was even talk of a television version being developed by Mark Gordon; unfortunately, this never came to fruition.

The producers confirmed to be working on the picture are well-equipped to tackle such a big undertaking. They have already worked previously on several excellent films that follow complicated storylines, deal with in-depth emotional issues and have gone on to be classics.

Enzo Sisti commented on how excited he is to be working on the project, saying, “I am delighted to partner with Gianni again, having just worked with him on Those About to Die, and with Simon on the remake of the classic film, which created a whole new sub-genre in film spawning over 500 European westerns.”

Meanwhile, Nunnari and Horsman confidently added of Sisti’s involvement: “Enzo is one of the most experienced producers in the film business, and we are fortunate to call him our partner on this incredible project. We are determined to produce a remake that does justice to the great Sergio Leone’s classic.”

This remains a developing story; more information on the plot, cast, and crew will shortly follow.
