Charlie Puth “devastated” as he cancels show due to illness

Charlie Puth is “devastated” after cancelling a live show in Orlando, Florida, in light of stern instructions from his doctor.

The four-time Grammy nominee took to social media to share the unfortunate news, writing on his Instagram Story, “I am so devastated to do this, but I have to cancel tonight’s show”.

He added, “I’ve been sick for the last few days and am now being instructed to rest or else risk cancelling more dates on this tour. Performing for you all each night means everything to me, and you all deserve the best.”

Though Puth insisted that he is “heartbroken”, stepping out on the stage would be impossible for the ‘Attention’ singer: “I physically am unable to perform.”

He added, “Without a voice, I can’t give you guys the show you all deserve. I’m so sorry, this was not an easy decision to make, but I hope to see you all soon when I am well again.”

Puth’s next show is set to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 9th. It isn’t currently clear as to whether the star will be going ahead with that live performance.

The star is currently on his Whatever’s Clever! World Tour, which will see him fly across the pond to London’s Eventim Apollo on July 15th, followed up by appearances in Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Manchester.

The live dates will continue across Europe and spots in Asia, before wrapping up in mid-November.

Recently, it was announced that Puth joined the AI-backed music platform, Moses, as its chief music officer. During the announcement, the performer shared confidently that he had been using AI in his creative process “for years”.

He clarified, “AI, when done right, isn’t here to replace musicians. It’s here to help artists learn, explore, and bring their ideas to life.”

However, not every musician is as welcoming to AI as Puth appears to be. Last year, Elton John and Paul McCartney spoke out about the dangerous ramifications of the use of the technology across the creative industries.
