Charges dropped against country star Conner Smith after fatal car incident with pensioner

Charges relating to a fatal car crash last summer involving country singer Conner Smith have now been dropped.

The recent development was confirmed by Davidson County District Attorney General’s Office, as per WZTV.

On June 8th, 2025, the singer-songwriter was driving a Chevrolet Silverado truck at 7:30pm local time; 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins crossed the road at a marked crosswalk and was fatally hit by the pickup.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department issued Smith a misdemeanour state citation the following month. However, WZTV has since reported that the office said Smith’s misdemeanour citation has been withdrawn at the request of Dobbins’ family.

In light of the dropped misdemeanour charge, Worrick G Robinson IV, the attorney representing the 25-year-old singer, shared a statement with People: “This devastating accident was a profound tragedy for the family of Dot Dobbins and the larger Germantown community.”

Robinson went on, “Over the past several months, Conner has been grateful for the opportunity to get to know Dot’s family personally and be able to voice his deep and sincere grief.”

His attorney clarified that, “While he is grateful that this legal chapter has concluded, he will continue to steadfastly lift her family up in prayer.”

Four weeks after the incident, Smith broke his silence online, writing in part, “Not a day has gone by that I haven’t grieved, prayed, and mourned for Ms. Dobbins and her family.”

He added that his “heart [was] broken in a way I’ve never experienced, and I still struggle to fully process the weight of it all.”

In 2023, Smith served as a direct support act for Luke Bryan on his Country On Tour. Last year, Smith released his debut album, Smoky Mountains, which charted at 42 on the US Country chart. He is next set to perform live on April 10th at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee.
