Cause of death confirmed for ‘Pulp Fiction’ actor Peter Greene
Peter Greene, the actor known for playing villains in coveted movies such as The Mask and Pulp Fiction, is confirmed to have died from a “gunshot wound of left axilla with injury of brachial artery.”
The news comes two months after he was found dead in his apartment in New York City on December 12th, as shared by his manager, Gregg Edwards, the following day.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City has now confirmed that the gunshot wound to the axilla (known colloquially as the armpit) has been deemed an “accident”.
The actor was discovered when a wellness check was conducted on his home, after music could be heard emanating from the abode for over 24 hours. He was pronounced dead at the scene at around 3:25pm local time.
At the time, the only information shared with the general public was that Greene had “some injuries” on his body; however, at that point, it was “undetermined what caused the injuries.”
Announcing his death, his manager deemed him “one of the best character actors on the planet.”
He added, “He was a good friend who would give you the shirt off his back. He was loved and will be missed.”
Greene made his feature debut in the 1992 film Laws of Gravity, starring opposite Edie Falco. After Clean, Shaven, his 1993 project, screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994, things picked up momentum for the star.
He played the iconic villain Zed in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, which won the Palme d’Or at that year’s Cannes Film Festival. Greene also played the main antagonist, Dorian Tyrell, opposite seasoned actor Jim Carrey in The Mask.
Other films Greene has starred in include Kiss & Tell, Blue Streak, End Game, and The Bounty Hunter. His most recent film, titled Little Dixie, is an American crime thriller starring Frank Grillo and Eric Dane.
