Cannes 2025: Harris Dickinson hails The Beatles as “extremely important to me” amid biopic
In an interview at Cannes festival, actor Harris Dickinson opened up about his relationship with The Beatles, after being cast to play John Lennon in the upcoming biopics.
As per Deadline, Dickinson first spoke of how demanding the biopic is on his time. He explained that he’s had to clear his schedule entirely for it, stating: “I think I’ll be doing that for the next however long it’ll be. That’s all I’ll be doing.”
However, the star wasn’t perturbed by the commitment it demands: “But it is the way it needs to be, really, with something like that. You can’t try and do a few different things at the same time, no. I don’t like to work like that.”
The Triangle of Sadness actor then reflected on his own relationship with the Liverpudlian band: “What do they mean to me? Well, they’re becoming closer and closer. They’re becoming dearer to me, the more I go on the journey of understanding John and the rest of them. Yeah, they’re becoming extremely important to me. They’re my every day right now.”
Dickinson is in Cannes for his directorial debut, Urchin. Starring Frank Dillane, it follows a troubled but charming young man on the streets of London whose efforts to get his life in order are hindered by his own self-destructive tendencies. The homeless young man who winds up in prison after an unprovoked assault. Dickinson also penned the script for the movie.
The release date and casting details for the upcoming biopics were announced on April 1st. The films will see Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan and Joseph Quinn play Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, respectively. However, several months before the official announcement, Starr prematurely confirmed that Keoghan would portray him.
All four of The Beatles biopics are set for release in 2027.
