BTS announce mammoth 79-date comeback tour following military service
K-pop icons BTS have announced a mammoth 79-date worldwide comeback tour, set to take place this year as their first live dates since 2022.
The band are set to return in massive style with their Routing For World Tour, which by spanning 34 regions and 79 shows so far, is set to become the largest K-pop tour of all time.
With an expected gross of $1 billion from this set of shows, according to BBC News, if extended, it could also come close to matching the $2 billion grossed by Taylor Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, which spanned 149 shows.
This speculation becomes even more magnified in the context that BTS are still set to announce dates in Japan, the Middle East, and more into 2027.
For now, the band will kick off the tour on April 9th in Goyang, South Korea, before heading out on legs taking place in Japan, North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia over the course of the rest of 2026 and into early 2027.
They will land in the UK for two shows in London, taking place at the capital city’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 6th and 7th, marking their return to the country since becoming the first K-pop act to play Wembley Stadium in 2019.
This major comeback for BTS has arrived after each of its seven members completed their 20-month military service in their native South Korea, which is mandated for men aged between 18 and 28 by the country’s government. A law was introduced to allow K-pop stars to complete their service before the age of 30, meaning each member of the band staggered their stints.
As part of their return, BTS have also announced earlier this month that their fifth full-length studio album is set to be released on March 20th, marking their first new musical effort since Be in 2020.
Tickets for BTS’ world tour will go on presale between January 22nd and 23rd exclusively for Army Membership holders, while general sale will begin on January 24th for all dates and regions.
