Bright Eyes to mark landmark anniversary with series of special concerts

Bright Eyes have announced that they are set to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their most seminal albums next year with a string of three special concerts.

The American indie rock trio released their acclaimed records I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn on the same day of January 25th, 2005, which will celebrate its 21st anniversary in the coming weeks of early 2026.

As such, the band have decided to recognise the occasion by playing three special shows in May and June, taking in stops in Colorado, Los Angeles, and New York along the way.

Announcing the news, Bright Eyes’ frontman Conor Oberst said in a statement: “I have always hated my birthdays but I love parties. And I remember being really excited when I turned 21 for obvious reasons.”

He continued: “So when the idea came up to celebrate the 21st anniversary of these two records who were born on the same day, Nate [Walcot], Mike [Mogis], and I took a long look in our full-length mirror and finally said, ‘Fuck it, why not?’”

Oberst concluded by adding: “So we hope you can join us at one of these shows. It will be the three of us and many old friends coming together to make what will hopefully be this magical thing happen. Hope to see you there. We are really excited. Love and light.”

Tilly and the Wall, The Moldy Peaches, and Built to Spill are each respectively set to support the band at the shows, but the structure of the nights will differ slightly from typical gigs.

Since Bright Eyes will be playing their two albums in full, they will first play I’m Wide Awake, It’s Morning before the support act takes to the stage as an intermission, and then they will return to play Digital Ash in a Digital Urn.

Tickets for Bright Eyes’ special 21st anniversary shows will go on sale from December 12th at 10am local time.
