Brian Eno follows Together for Palestine with new Beatie Wolfe collaboration, ‘Part of Us’
Brian Eno has followed up the Together for Palestine charity concert at Wembley Arena with a new single, ‘Part of Us’, with Beatie Wolfe.
‘Part of Us’ is the third single from their forthcoming collaborative album, Liminal, out on October 10th via Verve Records. Other singles from the project include ‘The Last to Know’ and ‘Ringing Ocean’.
Liminal promises to be the third installment in a story already started by June’s releases, Lateral and Luminal. While the former was a space music offering, and the latter a dream music project, Liminal will follow up with a self-described dark matter affect.
Of the track, the pair shared, “‘Part of Us’ inhabits a Liminal space, a place of Dark Matter, an unfamiliar land with a human presence that lives somewhere between primitive and futuristic. The video, which we made, reflects this sense of the cellular to the stellar.”
The accompanying visualiser was also made by the creative duo. It depicts a translucent orb floating on a black plane. In the track’s final third, the visuals shift to a deep red in line with the lyrics, “We know what it means to be dust.”
On September 17th, Eno co-produced a concert in aid of Palestine at Wembley Arena. The star-studded line-up of actors and musicians rallying for change included Florence Pugh, Paul Weller, Pinkpantheress, and Portishead. At the event, Eno performed two new pieces, including a new vocal work which featured three voices and 12 musicians, with Beatie Wolfe as one of the guitarists.
Far Out attended the charity event and branded it a “powerful evening led by Palestinian voices”. Lucy Harbron, who experienced the night first-hand, wrote, “With a sold-out arena and countless more people tuned in on a live stream, the point of an occasion like this is to be unignorable and make it clear that the people will not ignore what is happening. Curated in a deeply honouring way and packed full of important voices, Eno rightfully let Palestine lead this important night.”
