BBC Radio 1 hosted their annual Big Weekend with a difference this year, switching the event to a virtual platform because of current pandemic. With performances from a number of high profile acts, Blossoms contributed with a rendition of ‘If You Think This Is Real Life’ from their homes.
The festival was supposed to take place in Dundee’s Camperdown Park and announced names before the cancellation that included the likes of Harry Styles, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro and AJ Tracey. However, the event was re-worked so fans could still enjoy some form of live music this weekend.
The online alternative to the Dundee bash saw HAIM, Sam Smith, Disclosure, Declan McKenna, Rex Orange County, Blossoms and more record sets from home which were broadcast on iPlayer this weekend.
The Stockport five-piece brought their latest effort Foolish Loving Spaces alive from home by performing a blistering rendition of lead-single ‘If You Think This Is Real Life’.
Blossoms have become masters of the home cover version during these last couple of months with the band recording stellar versions of The Coral’s ‘Dreaming Of You’ with James Skelly, a cover alongside Miles Kane of Tame Impala’s ‘Feel Like We Only Go Backwards’ as well as renditions of The Beatles’ ‘Paperback Writer ‘ and Frank Ocean’s ‘Lost’.
The band are set to release an album comprised of their quarantine covers titled simply Blossoms In Isolation which is currently being released track by track over the coming weeks, with physical copies set to arrive later in the year.
