Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni issue joint statement after reaching settlement over lawsuit

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement just weeks before being due to start trial over a lawsuit relating to the 2024 movie, It Ends With Us.

In a joint statement, legal representatives of Lively and Baldoni shared, “The end product – the movie It Ends With Us – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life.”

They continued, “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind.”

It added, “We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms Lively deserved to be heard.”

The joint statement concluded, “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”

The details of the settlement agreement between Baldoni and Lively have not been publicly disclosed.

Last month, ten of the 13 allegations Lively made against Baldoni, including harassment and defamation allegations, were all dismissed.

Her three remaining claims, which were due to be heard in a civil trial later this month in New York, referred to breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation.

After ten of the claims were dismissed, Lively took to Instagram Stories, indicating she was looking forward to having the allegations heard in court, writing, “I’m grateful for the Court’s ruling which allows the heart of my case to be presented to jury next month, and for the ability to tell my story in full at trial, for my own sake, but also for those who don’t have the same opportunity to”.

The case stretches back to 2024, when Lively sued Baldoni for harassment and accused him of running a smear campaign on the set of It Ends With Us.

In response, Baldoni launched a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively. This was dismissed last June by a judge. He also sued the New York Times for publishing Lively’s allegations, which was also dismissed.
