Billy Porter pulls out of Manchester Pride hours before performance
Hollywood star Billy Porter has pulled out of Manchester Pride hours before they were due to take to the stage.
Over 100,000 people are expected to attend Manchester Pride over the next two days, as Manchester will welcome a series of huge names from the music world to the North West.
Porter was set to perform this evening on the Mardi Gras stage, which is held at Depot Mayfield and Freight Island. Notably, the huge venue is also home to the Warehouse Project.
In a statement, organisers said: “We’re sad to share that Billy Porter will no longer be able to perform at Mardi Gras today due to illness.”
Manchester Pride continued: “We know many of you were looking forward to their set as much as we were. Get well soon Billy, we hope you have a speedy recovery. Thanks for your understanding and for being part of the Manchester Pride community. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.”
The Mardi Gras stage is also set to welcome former Little Mix singer Leigh-Anne later today, as well as The Danny Beard Show. Tomorrow, Nelly Furtado and Olly Alexander will take to the same stage.
Porter is currently starring in Cabaret on Broadway. He is also set to play a prominent role in the upcoming blockbuster The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
The movie is currently scheduled for release on November 20th, 2026, and Francis Lawrence will return to the director’s chair. As well as featuring relative unknowns Joseph Zada and Whitney Peak in the lead roles, it will also feature a host of Hollywood stars such as Kieran Culkin, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Maya Hawke and Iris Apatow.
