Billy Corgan to bring ‘A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness’ tour to UK and Europe
Billy Corgan is set to bring his A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness tour to the UK and Europe, giving an orchestral reimagining to the Smashing Pumpkins classic.
The tour, which premiered at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in 2025, serves as an homage to the pioneering Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness album released by the Smashing Pumpkins in 1995, with Corgan giving the record an operatic and orchestral live treatment.
Following its successful run in Chicago, the show is now set to tour for a seven-date stint across the UK and Europe in September this year, starting at the Royal Festival Hall in London for two nights, before visiting Antwerp, Paris, and Madrid.
In a statement announcing the news on May 11th, Corgan said: “The success of translating Mellon Collie into operatic and classical form has been one of the most satisfying experiences of my life.”
The Smashing Pumpkins frontman added: “Where on each of the seven sold out nights in Chicago we’d finish within the raucous wave of a standing ovation. So to now take it on the road, and to Europe, too says this magical dream doesn’t have to end.”
The show is set to be conducted by renowned maestro James Lowe, while the company will be rounded out by a range of operatic singers over the course of the seven dates.
Corgan’s bold vision for the new tour comes as he recently denounced the rise of AI within music-making, calling it a “deal with the devil”.
While appearing on an episode of the podcast And the Writer Is… last month, the frontman explained: “I refuse, refuse, patently refuse to use AI in my music creation,” before adding, “To me, it’s a deal with the devil. Simple. Whether it’s the Promethean fire myth or whatever, to me, you’re literally leaning into the thing that will destroy you. Period.”
Pre-sale tickets for the A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness tour will become available from May 12th at 10am BST, while general sale for Paris and Antwerp will begin on May 13th at 10am CET. Meanwhile, tickets for London and Madrid will go on sale on May 14th at 10am BST.
