Sibling songwriting duo Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell have released a paired back live rendition of ‘Your Power’.
The rearrangement comes two weeks before Eilish’s second LP, Happier Than Ever, is set to be released. Like its predecessor When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, the album is produced by Finneas, with each of the released singles so far having been co-written by him as well.
With a simple stage set up, flanked by curtains and a large chandelier overhead, the duo turn the already sparse and acoustic track into a bare-bones rendition that highlights Eilish’s vocal stylings and the duo’s ability to root their songs with genuine pop melodies. Folkier than they’ve ever been in the past, this version of ‘Your Power’ feel warm and intimate compared to the chilly album rendition.
This performance hasn’t been the first time that the brother and sister have stripped back their material. Previously, the duo has put out spacious reworkings of ‘Ilomilo’, ‘Bad Guy’, ‘All the Good Girls Go to Hell’, ‘Let’s Fall In Love Tonight’, ‘I Don’t Miss You At All’, ‘Break My Heart Again’ and ‘Everything I Wanted’ for the Pay It Forward livestream last year.
‘Your Power’ is the third single of five to be released from Happier Than Ever so far. Previous tracks like ‘My Future’, ‘Therefore I Am’, and ‘Lost Cause’ have been previewed, and just last week Eilish dropped the album’s most recent single ‘NDA’. This also happens to be the second version of ‘Your Power’ to be featured over the past few days, after Inhaler provided their own rendition when they made an appearance on BBC Radio 1 last week. The Eilish hype train is really firing up…as if it could get any more powerful.
