Bikini Kill, Korn and Pearl Jam donate to fundraiser for Jennifer Finch following brain cancer diagnosis

A growing group of musicians, including members of Tool, Pearl Jam, Korn, Bikini Kill, and more, have supported the GoFundMe set up for L7 bassist Jennifer Finch following her diagnosis with brain cancer.

On July 14th, it was announced that Finch, the bassist of American rock band L7, was suffering from an “aggressive” form of brain cancer.

As a result, Finch can no longer participate in the L7’s Last Hurrah Tour later this year, and “requires extensive medical care, rehabilitation and professional in-home support.”

L7 launched a GoFundMe to “help cover these urgent expenses and allow her to remain safely at home with the care, dignity and support she needs”.

At the time of writing, the GoFundMe has raised $366,092 of the $350,000 target, reaching above and beyond what the organisers hoped possible to help cover in-home nursing care, recoup legal fees and medical expenses, as well as “preserve Jennifer’s legacy by creating an archive of her artistic and creative work”.

Many famous names appear in the slew of fans, friends, and family donating. Among the contributions, Garbage has donated $8,000, while Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament has donated $4,500.

Additionally, Bikini Kill vocalist Kathleen Hanna has given $5,000, Tool’s Maynard James Keenan has donated £2,500, and Korn guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch has pledged $1,000.

Brett Gurewitz, the former Bad Religion guitarist and owner of Epitaph Records, has made a $10,000 donation alongside his wife, Gina.

The biggest donation on the GoFundMe, totalling $44,000, was made anonymously. The organisers have since reacted to the heart-warming response, admitting they are “blown away by the support”.

Ahead of their tour without Finch, the rock group shared a final moving statement, noting, “Jennifer is part of our family. We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years.”
