Art world commentator Jerry Gogosian found dead in São Paulo hotel room
Art world commentator known widely as Jerry Gogosian has been found dead in the Rosewood Hotel in São Paulo.
Gogosian, whose real name was Hilde Lynn Helphenstein, was allegedly found dead in her hotel room next to an empty bottle of vodka, unidentified pills, and a broken glass.
Her body was discovered by a man who claims to be her plastic surgeon, who said he went to her room to check on her after she had stopped answering her phone.
He also confirmed that she had been in Brazil for three weeks, having a surgical procedure.
The police have looked into her death and have registered it as suspicious; further tests have been requested.
Helphenstein made a name for herself on her satirical Instagram account, where she made comments on the art world; she had also run a gallery before starting to work in the world of social media.
Her persona name was a combination of Jerry Saltz and Larry Gagosian, both of whom are big names in the art world.
While she has started pivoting from satirical content recently, her Instagram account currently has a total of 145,000 followers.
