Armed intruder invades Sheryl Crow’s house: “I actually really felt very afraid”

Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow has recently reported that an armed intruder trespassed on her property in reaction to her selling her Tesla.

In February, Crow posted a video online depicting her Tesla being sold and towed away in protest against billionaire and now-politician Elon Musk. In the video, she waves goodbye to the car to the soundtrack of Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman’s ‘Time to Say Goodbye’.

Crow was soon surprised at the backlash. This all climaxed when Crow revealed that an intruder trespassed on her property.  “[T]here was a moment where I actually really felt very afraid: A man got on my property, in my barn, who was armed,” she said. “It doesn’t feel safe when you’re dealing with people who are so committed.”

The singer has often used her craft to advocate for her beliefs. In 1996, she released the song ‘Love Is A Good Thing,’ which criticised Walmart for stocking guns. In reaction, Walmart banned sales of the album. The controversial lyrics were: “Watch our children as they kill each other/with a gun they bought at the Walmart discount stores.”

However, the musician commented that this experience differs from her display of resistance almost three decades ago. “This feels different, because when I came out against Walmart carrying guns, not everybody was armed — and certainly I didn’t live in Tennessee, where everybody is armed,” Crow said.

Despite her fear, this hasn’t perturbed Crow from speaking up for what she believes. “I can’t help it,” she said. “I feel like I’m fighting for my kids. Also, that’s the way I was raised. There have been times when it hasn’t really been fun, but I follow my Atticus Finch dad; I’m very similar to him if I see something that seems unfair, you know?”
