Earlier this week, we got excited when we saw that Arctic Monkeys were rumoured to be returning to their roots and play four huge Sheffield shows at Hillsborough Park in September but our hopes have now been shattered after they look to be off.
Sheffield based VIBE Magazine, spoke to sources close to the Arctic Monkeys who confirmed it was the High Green four piece that were the subjects of the application for four nights of live music at Hillsborough Park.
However; the magazine also contacted Sheffield City Council who have stated that the application for the huge homecoming gigs has been withdrawn and notices around the site will be brought down as soon as possible.
A spokesperson for the council told VIBE: “We can confirm that SJM concerts has withdrawn the licensing application for Hillsborough Park. We don’t know why as of yet.”

The AM boys are expected to reveal details of their long-awaited sixth album imminently after they announced their return to the stage by sharing a huge run of festival dates throughout 2018 which will see them cover the globe. So far, they have only one UK show in the pipeline which is headlining Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival.
More information as we get it.
