We continue our build up to Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival with Thursday’s main attraction, Arcade Fire. After months of cyber flirting, Arcade Fire finally released single ‘Reflektor’ featuring a David Bowie collaboration, produced by James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem.
In an interview prior to it’s release, Win Butler continued to add to the mysticism surrounding the new material explaining on BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe show that the new album and marketing around it, feels like a “weird art project” finding the inspiration for the record whilst on a trip to Haiti a couple of years ago.
Reflektor was accompanied by two videos, one an interactive piece allowing viewers to control the reflective elements, generally in keeping with Arcade Fire tradition following on from Neon Bible’s interactive effort a few years back.
The second video, directed by Anton Corbijn features the band wearing massive oversized papier-mâché heads (which we’ve seen before in Arcade Fire videos gone by) playing in the back of a truck in black and white, typically strange and brilliant from a distinctively strange and brilliant band.
Oh yeah, here’s the album.
