Arcade Fire announce new album ‘Pink Elephant’
Arcade Fire have announced that they are set to release an upcoming seventh studio album, called Pink Elephant, on May 9th.
The Canadian indie band, consisting of Win Butler, Régine Chassagne, Richard Reed Parry, Tim Kingsbury, and Jeremy Gara, made the announcement via their fan club app on April 7th.
They posted a radio mix which concluded with current single ‘Year of the Snake’, and a message that said: “This is Win and Regime from Arcade Fire. Our new record is called Pink Elephant and it’s out on May 9th. Keep it here inside the Circle of Trust. Take care of each other.”
Regarding the song ‘Year of the Snake’, they added that it would be “out tomorrow, but here in the circle of trust, today is tomorrow. Thank you for spending a little time with us – I know time is the one thing you can’t buy, so quit your job, call your best friend. It’s a season of change, and if you feel strange, it’s probably good.”
Pink Elephant will mark Arcade Fire’s first album since 2022’s We. The band had already teased the fact that new music was on the horizon in a recent performance in Texas of ‘Year of the Snake’ as well as ‘Pink Elephant’ and ‘Ride or Die’.
On their newly launched fan club app Trust, they also shared a song called ‘Cars and Telephones’ on April 4th.
The release and subsequent tour for Arcade Fire’s last album, We, was marred by controversy as lead singer Butler was accused of several counts of sexual misconduct and assault by multiple people over the course of 2016 to 2020, which he and his wife Chassagne both deny.
